Updated Analysis Suggests DCVax-L Offers Greater Survival Benefit in Glioblastoma

New data suggest that the survival benefit of DCVax-L for patients with glioblastoma (GBM) is greater than previously reported.

The original phase 3 analysis showed that DCVax-L improved median overall survival by 2.8 months. However, a new analysis using individual patient data from three randomized clinical trials found that the actual survival benefit ranged from 3.4 to 6.3 months. Additional statistical analyses confirmed a survival improvement of 3.4 to 4.3 months and showed that the results were unlikely to be explained by bias or differences between patients.

In the original study, patients with newly diagnosed GBM treated with DCVax-L had a median overall survival of 19.3 months, compared with 16.5 months in external control groups. The five-year survival rate was 13.0% versus 5.7%. Among patients with recurrent GBM, median survival after recurrence was 13.2 months with DCVax-L, compared with 7.8 months for controls, while the 30-month survival rate was 11.1% versus 5.1%.

The updated findings were made possible after researchers gained access to detailed individual patient data, allowing for a more accurate assessment of DCVax-L’s effectiveness.
