The ICESECRET clinical trial shows that the ProSense Cryoablation System is a safe and effective treatment for small kidney tumors. In the study of 114 patients with localized tumors 5 cm or smaller, 83.9% remained free of recurrence after a median follow-up of four years.
The procedure is minimally invasive and performed under CT guidance. It uses extreme cold to destroy tumors while preserving healthy kidney tissue, making it an option for older patients or those with other health problems who may not tolerate surgery. The ProSense system is already approved in the U.S. and Europe for kidney tumors and also has FDA authorization for low-risk breast cancer in certain patients.
